Oxwich Bay

Travelling further into Gower you will come across an ancient "gate house" where there is a turning to Oxwich.  The views as you decend the hill and travel along the salt marshes are beautiful.  Oxwich village has some lovely thatched cottages along its narrow roads, but the biggest draw is the beach itself.

Oxwich Bay is a vast expanse of sand, bordered by sand dunes and a National Nature Reserve, and has a large car park bordering the beach.  Boats can be launched from Oxwich and kite flying, windsurfing and jet skiing are popular activites, as well as the new "paddle boarding" where you stand on a surf board and paddle using a long oar - very good for the stomach muscles!!

It is an ideal day out for families with children who don't enjoy walking far to the beach, and is great for walking the dog on cold winter afternoons.

Oxwich Castle, a 16th Century Manor House above Oxwich village has been restored by Cadw and is open to the public for a charge.

Hi Emma, just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our stay on the Gower. The standard of accommodation was very good. I particularly like the bathroom! Thanks for your help in suggesting places to go. We will definitely come back. Regards - Fran
